STANDISH, Me. – The Elms College men's and women's swim teams dropped a dual meet at St. Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday. The Blazer men fell 122-97 to the Monks while the Elms women lost 153-101.
Kelly Scianna netted 27 points for Elms with first-place finishes in each of the three individual events she entered. Scianna won the 50 yard backstroke (31.82), 50 yard freestyle (27.93) and 400 yard IM (5:23.58).
Brittany North added 22 points individually for the Blazer women. She secured nine points each with wins in the 1000 yard freestyle (12:25.75) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:27.93) and added four points with a second-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (1:11.68). North and Scianna also led Elms to a second-place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay, joining with Cricket Cavar and Julianne Gordon to finish in 4:12.63.
Edward Capoldo racked up 22 points for the Blazer men. He won the 50 yard butterfly (25.47) and the 200 yard freestyle (1:59.67) and finished second in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:32.11). He also led off the Elms 400 freestyle relay squad that earned four more points with a second-place finish (3:49.95).
Matthew Nodell added 17 points for the Elms men. He won the 50 yard backstroke (29.78) and placed second in the 50 yard freestyle (25.27) as well as the 400 IM (5:17.69).
The Blazers return to action on Nov. 9 at Saint Joseph (CT) in a meet that will also include Western Connecticut. Elms will host UMass-Dartmouth on Nov. 17 in the home-opener.
