Men's Soccer Cruises Past Johnson State, 4-1
ELMS COLLEGE CRUISES PAST JOHNSON STATE, 4-1
CHICOPEE, MA., Oct. 6, 2007 - Elms College sophomore forward Damien Robinson (Chicopee, MA) netted a pair of goals to lead the Blazers past Johnson State 4-1 in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference men's soccer game at Leary Field.
Elms College opened the scoring in the 17th minute as freshman forward T. J. Nevue (Palmer, MA) attacked from the right side, drawing defenders and eventually finding the open freshman defender Justin Pearson (Torrington, CT) who blasted a goal from outside the 18-yard box.
Robinson tallied his first score and the eventual game winning goal came when he headed home a corner kick lofted by sophomore forward Sean Moylan (Chicopee, MA) in the 35th minute. The two Chicopee natives hooked up for another Blazer goal in the 80th minute when Moylan chipped a corner kick that was booted by Robinson. Moylan added a third assist moments later as he set up sophomore forward Brian Murca (Chicopee, MA) for a goal in the 83rd minute of play.
Johnson State senior forward Trent Gould (Santa Monica, CA) scored the lone goal for the Badgers on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.
With the win Elms College improves to 3-7-1, 2-2 NAC. Johnson State drops to a mark of 3-6, 2-2 NAC.
Elms College returns to conference play Wednesday, October 10 at Becker. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
