Golf Places Eighth in 2024 GNAC Pre-Championship Poll
WINTHROP, MASS. - New England College will be hosting the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf Championships in a two day, 36-hole championship format at the Concord Country Club in Concord, N.H. on Monday and Tuesday Oct. 14 and 15. The winner of the event will earn the league's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship in the spring. Tee off on Monday is set for 9:00 AM.
2024 GNAC Men's Golf Pre-Championship Poll Release - October 11, 2024
New England College was unanimously chosen as the favorite to repeat in this year's pre-championship poll, receiving all eight first-place votes, after the voting was conducted by the league's eight head coaches this past week. The Pilgrims came to the conference last-year as a full-time member and won their first-ever GNAC title. They received all 64 points.
Following behind the Pilgrims is last year's runner up Norwich, who was selected to finish second, with 53 points.
Three-time conference champion Saint Joseph's (Maine) and 2020 GNAC Champion Albertus Magnus take the final spots of the top half of the poll with 41 and 39 points, respectively.
Emmanuel (38), Mitchell (29), Dean (15), and Elms (11) all rounded out the final spots in order for this year's voting.
The Blazers wrapped up their regular season on Friday, September 27th at the Keene State Invitational with a 9th place finish, scoring 358 points (+70). During the 2024 season, Elms competed in four tournaments in five dates of play. Graduate student Liam Fitzgibbons (Pittsfield, Mass.) and junior Miguel Pearce (Guilford, Conn.) led the Blazers this fall shooting a 133 (+47) and 404 (+54).
