Rakes Named Men's Lacrosse Graduate Assistant

CHICOPEE, Mass. - Elms College Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Matt Smith announced this afternoon that Caden Rakes will be the program's new Graduate Assistant.

"We are super excited to have Caden joining the coaching staff here at Elms," said Smith. "I have known and coached Caden for years now, and I can say beyond a doubt he has an unmatched love for the game. Our goalies especially will benefit from his addition".

Rakes has played at the Division III level, as a goaltender, with fellow GNAC competitors New England College and Anna Maria College, where he would be a part of two conference championships and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Following his collegiate career, Rakes played internationally with the Greece Lacrosse Men's Box team during the 2024 North American Invitational last fall in Utica, N.Y. Rakes has also played with the Paper City Oaks and Westrock Warhogs of the North American Box Lacrosse League. He also was recently drafted by the Cutthroats of the Montana Lacrosse League in the Third Round of the Second Phase in July. Rakes is currently entered as a prospect into the 2025 National Lacrosse League and Arena Lacrosse League Drafts, which will be held on Saturday, September 6th and a date to be determined.

Rakes holds a bachelor's degree from Anna Maria College in 2025.
