SPRINGFIELD, MA – Elms College received a
10-save effort from sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Sullivan
(Agawam, MA) but Springfield College out-shot the Blazers
29-3 en route to a 3-0 victory in Saturday afternoon’s
non-conference men’s soccer match.
With the loss, Elms College slips to 0-3, while Springfield moves
to 2-2 on the season.
Springfield was led by Eric Stalsburg (Old Saybrook,
CT) who tallied 10 shots in the contest, finding the back
of the net in the 89th minute on a through ball from Aled
Hollingworth (Atlanta, GA) to cap the Pride’s
scoring for the contest.
The game was scoreless through much of the first half before
Dave Kotulski (Bethlehem, PA) put a shot past
Sullivan to give Springfield a 1-0 lead at the 36:51 mark.
The Pride did not score again until 16 minutes into the second half
when Cody Kaczetow (Centereach, NY) delivered on a
free kick at the top of the box, lifting the advantage to 2-0.
Kotulski, Kaczetow and Patrick Mudie (Barnstable,
MA) each took three shots in the winning effort.
Senior defender Nick Bamford (Ludlow, MA) placed
the Blazers only shot on target, while junior forward Josh
Chagnon (Loudon, NH) and freshman forward Mike
Peloquin (Chicopee, MA) also registered a shot.
The Blazers return to Leary Field on Tuesday, Sept. 15 when they
host Emmanuel. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
