Grimes Named NECC Pitcher of the Week

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College senior pitcher Beth Grimes (Terryville, Conn.) was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Pitcher of the Week for softball as announced by the league office on Monday.

Grimes started four games in the circle during Elms' spring break trip to Florida and finished with a 2-2 record. She totaled 33 strikeouts and allowed just four runs (three earned) in 27.0 innings pitched for a 0.78 earned run average (ERA). In the Blazers' 8-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology, Grimes fanned 15 batters and scattered just two hits. This is Grimes' first NECC weekly accolade of the season.
