Redding Becomes Program's All-Time Kills Leader In 3-0 Win Over Bridgewater State

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.) became the program's all-time kills leader on Tuesday night as the Elms College women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches with a 3-0 win over Bridgewater State. The Blazers won 25-20, 25-19, 25-15 to spoil Bridgewater State's season-opener.

Redding entered the match needing just three kills to pass Stacy Croteau's previous school record of 811 career kills which has stood since 2011. She more than delivered, finishing with a match-high nine kills to bring her total to 818, and counting.

Rachel Magnuson (Miller Place, N.Y.) turned in an impressive performance, tallying eight kills with just one error and a .500 hitting percentage. She also added two digs and an ace. Govanna Rosado (Humaco, P.R.) dished out 27 assists and a match-high three aces while Kiana Lozada (Bayamon, P.R.) finished with 27 digs. Ayanna Meadows (Springfield, Mass.), who was named the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week earlier on Tuesday, added six kills and 14 digs for the Blazers.

The Bears (0-1) were led by Kayla Baril (Seekonk, Mass.) who finished with eight kills and 10 digs. Cassidy Tyros (Chelmsford, Mass.) added a dozen digs for Bridgewater State.

Elms hit .125 in the match while holding the Bears to a .025 clip. The Blazers owned a 64-47 advantage in digs and a 6-4 edge in aces.

Elms will hit the road for the first time this season, visiting St. Joseph (Conn.) on Sept. 6 while BSU will host Rhode Island College on Sept. 8.
