Field Hockey Woes Continue Against Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. - The Elms College Field Hockey team traveled to Lasell University for a conference game Saturday morning.  

BASICS
Score: Elms College 0 | Lasell University 10
Records: Blazers 0-6, 0-3 (GNAC) | Lasers 5-2, 2-1 (GNAC) 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Lasell would come out of the gate with a shot in the opening seven seconds, but it would be saved by first-year goaltender Emily Hunt (Montrose, N.Y.). The Lasers would continue putting pressure on the Blazers, scoring two goals before the end of the first quarter and two goals in the second quarter. Hunt would record seven saves in the opening half.

Lasell would begin the third quarter with a quick goal and they would add another five goals before the end of the quarter. Even though Elms was down by a large margin, junior defender Elizabeth Franzoni (Rutland, Vt.) would make a defensive save and Hunt would add an additional three more saves. The Lasers would add one more goal but the Blazers defense would continue to hold strong with Hunt making one more save and first-year forward/defender Emily Kilili (Wareham, Mass.) and junior midfielder/defender Abbie Sierzego (South Hadley, Mass.) would each make a defensive save, but Lasell would come out with the 10-0 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Hunt would save 11 of the 21 shots she faced.

  • Franzoni, Kilili, and Sierzego would each record a defensive save during the game.

 

UP NEXT: The Elms College Field Hockey team will travel to South Hadley, Mass. to play Mount Holyoke College in a non-conference matchup on Thursday, September 26th at 6 PM.
