Towne and Rivers Join Blazers Staff as Strength & Conditioning Coaches

CHICOPEE, Mass. - Elms College Athletic Director Rob Southall announced this week that Sophie Towne and Dylan Rivers will be the College's new Head Strength & Conditioning Coaches.

"We are excited to welcome Dylan and Sophie to our athletics family," said Southall. "Both bring tremendous knowledge, energy, and a commitment to developing student-athletes, on and off the field. Their backgrounds at Springfield College prepare them well to enhance our strength and conditioning program and help our teams reach new levels".

When asked about joining the Elms staff, Towne said that "I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with Elms College athletes, help develop the Elms Strength and Conditioning culture, and contribute to the success and experience of Elms Athletics. It's been a pleasure getting to know the athletes so far and I'm so excited to continue working with sport coaches to unlock athletic potential!"

Rivers stated that "I am very excited to join the staff here at Elms College. The athletes here come in excited to work day in and day out and I can not wait to see all the progress they make this year!"

Towne comes to Elms from Georgetown University where she spent four years as a member of the field hockey team. While at Georgetown, she also was a part of the Sports Performance program. She would then spend time as an intern at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Olympic Sports Performance.

Rivers comes to Elms from Nichols College. While at Nichols, he also was a part of the Sports Performance program as an intern. He would also spend time as an intern at Harvard University, University of Iowa Football team, and Oakfit in Dallas, Texas.

Towne would graduate from Georgetown in 2025 with her bachelor's and is currently earning her master's degree at Springfield College. Rivers would graduate from Nichols in 2025 with his bachelor's and is currently earning his master's degree at Springfield College. Towne and Rivers both hold CSCS certifications from the NSCA.
