Men's Soccer Beats SUNY Cobleskill for First Win of the Season
CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Men's Soccer team hosted State University of New York-Cobleskill in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon at Leary Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half would see SUNY Cobleskill be on the attack early, taking five shots in the opening 12 minutes, including a goal in the eighth minute of the game. Elms sophomores Nicholas and Andrew Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.) and junior forward Jacobo Molina Ferrer (Valencia, Spain) would each take shots to help the Blazers equalize the score. Then following a corner kick, Molina Ferrer would score the equalizing goal for Elms. The two sides would continue to trade possession and shots, including a shot by first-year forward Ibrahim Ayouba (Springfield, Mass.). Then the Blazers would take a corner kick by Molina Ferrer and the Fighting Tigers would score an own goal off of a header in the 40th minute of the half to help Elms head into the break with a 2-1 lead.
SUNY Cobleskill would continue to attempt to tie the game, with both sides taking shots, including shots from sophomore Patricio Vidales (Cancun, Mexico) and juniors Pajorn Drysdale (Nantucket, Mass.) and junior Abu Sanu (Freetown, Sierra Leone) but they would be unsuccessful and the Blazers would secure their first victory of the season beating the Fighting Tigers 2-1.

Molina Ferrer attempted three shots, two of those shots were on goal, and scored one goal.

Senior Aidan Berube (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded one save in the contest.
UP NEXT: The Elms Men's Soccer team will travel to Paxton, Mass. to face off against Anna Maria College in their conference opener on Wednesday, September 11th at 4 PM.
