Men's Soccer Defeated by St. Joseph's of Maine
STANDISH, Maine – The Elms College Men's Soccer team traveled to Saint Joseph's College, Maine for a conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half would see Saint Joseph's take the first four shots of the game in the opening minutes, where two shots would be saved by senior goalkeeper Aidan Berube (Chicopee, Mass.) and one was blocked by the Elms defense. The Monks offense would continue to put pressure on the Blazers. Later in the half, the Elms defense would make a second block and Berube would record a third save. Saint Joseph's would score two goals in the 30th and 38th minutes of play. In the final minutes of the half, sophomore Patricio Vidales (Cancun, Mexico) would record the first shot for the Blazers, but it would be blocked, and the Monks would keep their lead 2-0 for the halftime break.
SJC would continue their offensive pressure taking five shots in the first 10-minutes of the second half. Elms would respond with shots from senior defenders Emmanuel Monge (Humacao, Puerto Rico) and Jake Grendzinkski (Watertown, Conn.), but a goal from sophomore Andrew Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.) would put the Blazers on the board. The Monks would take two shots, with Berube making one save. Sophomore Nicholas Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.) would take his first shot of the game. Saint Joseph's would score their third goal of the conference matchup in the 80th minute. The Elms offense would try to cut the lead after N. Velasquez would take two more shots, but the Monks would hold off the Blazers offense to defeat Elms 3-1.
