Women's Volleyball Swept by Simmons at Home
CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Volleyball team hosted Simmons University for their Elms Athletics Friends and Family Day and a conference match on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set would begin by the two conference foes in a long and early battle for the lead. Elms would earn points after kills from junior Lilliana Simmons (Springfield, Mass.), seniors Alysha Izquierdo (Holyoke, Mass.), Angelica Marks (Miami, Fla.), Alejandra Marin (Dorado, Puerto Rico), and Jaylen Holman (Las Cruces, N.M.) along with blocks by Holman, Marks, and Simmons, and a service ace from Marks. But as the opening set neared its end, Simmons would win the set 25-21.
The second set would start by the Sharks drawing first blood, by outscoring the Blazers 9-4. During the set, Elms would see seven kills by Marin, Izquierdo, Marks, and Simmons, along with service aces from graduate student Alyssa Moore (Ludlow, Mass.) and Izquierdo. Even with those efforts, Simmons would hold onto their lead and win the second set 25-15.
The third and final set would once again see the Sharks take the first lead. The Blazers would see a total of 13 kills by Simmons, Izquierdo, Marks, Marin, along with a pair of service aces from Marks and a block from Simmons. But Simmons would win the set 25-20 and would secure the sweep conference victory over Elms.

UP NEXT: The Elms Women's Volleyball team will travel to Standish, Maine to compete in a conference tri-match against Lasell University and Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday, October 25th at 2 and 4 pm.
