HOW IT HAPPENED

Elms found themselves up 1-0 early again, as senior forward Jamie McDonough (Dedham, Mass.) netted another goal, assisted by first year forward/midfielder Caitlin Willard (Northampton, Mass.) to continue her torrid season. The Blazers would not be content with a 1-0 lead, and quickly struck again when first year forward Maddie Saunders (North Adams, Mass.) scored shortly after, assisted by first year defender Melanie Pugo (Clinton, Conn.) and first year midfielder/defender Eva Intrieri (Westerly, R.I.) to put Elms up 2-0. MCLA could not keep up with the Elms attack, and first year forward Isabel Baidy (Ellington, Conn.) would score the Blazers third goal, assisted by sophomore midfielder/defender Jenna McGuire (Shelton, Conn.) to give Elms a convincing 3-0 lead. The Blazers would continue to pressure MCLA on the offensive end and went into halftime threatening to strike again.

McDonough would score again shortly after halftime, assisted by junior forward/midfielder Emily Basua (Oxnard, Calif.) to put Elms up 4-0 and put the game out of reach. MCLA would get a couple of shots late in the game, but first year goalkeeper Breanna White (Lafayette, La.) would continue the shutout, and helped Elms to put the finishing touches on an outstanding 4-0 win.
