Records: Blazers 0-1, 0-0 (GNAC) | Hawks 1-0, 0-0 (CNE)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blazers started off down 1-0 early, as Hartford put pressure on the Elms defense from the start. Senior goaltender Katelyn Volk (Warwick, R.I.) made a couple key saves for the Blazers to keep them within striking distance, but the Hawks struck twice more to end the first quarter and take a 3-0 lead. Elms continued their attempts to stop the Hartford offense, but had trouble keeping the Hawks out of the Blazers zone and conceded two more goals before halftime.
Early in the second half, first year goaltender Ashlyn Cullity (Wilmington, Mass.) would come into the game and played well for the Blazers in her collegiate debut and made some impressive saves, but Elms was unable to muster shots on the Hartford goal to get Elms back in the game. Hartford would score one more time and defeat Elms 8-0, handing the Blazers their first loss of the season.
