CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Elms College used a trio of goalkeepers to make 17 saves including seven each from freshmen Nicholson Pennant (Kingston, Jamaica) and Christian Kostka (Oxford, Conn.), but five second half scores helped lift Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to a 8-0 win in Monday evening's non-conference men's soccer game in Cambridge, Mass.
With the loss, Elms moves to 6-7-2 overall, while MIT improves to 10-3-1 on the season.
MIT's Sean Bingham (Garden City, N.Y.) tallied two goals to lead seven Engineers with goals in the contest.
Nick Diamantoni (Belle Mead, N.J.) and Jason Adler (Scarsdale, N.Y.) added two assists each, as Diamantoni's helpers came via corner kicks while one of Adler's assists came following a free kick.
Matthew Monheit (Abington, Pa.), Alexander Dago (Chicago, Ill.), Cameron McCord (Springfield, Va.), Bokil Lopez-Pineda (Eagan, Minn.), Jonathan Tebes (Hamden, Conn.), and Joe Schuman (West Hartford, Conn.) each scored in the Engineers' triumph.
Elms' freshmen forwards Lorenzo Rolocut (Somers, Conn.) and Roger Conklin (Chicopee, Mass.) registered the Blazers' two shots on goal in the losing effort, while freshman net-minder John Matrisciano (West Haven, Conn.) added three saves in 14:35 of action.
Elms returns to conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 24 when it hosts Becker College at 3:30 p.m. at Leary Field.
