Five Players Named All-NECC in Men’s Soccer

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Elms College men's soccer team had five players named All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) including freshman midfielder Gerard Lawler (Langwarrin, Victoria, Australia) who was named the NECC Rookie of the Year as announced by the league office on Monday.

Lawler was also named First Team All-NECC after scoring four goals and assisting on two others during conference competition to lead all first-year players and was subsequently named the league's rookie of the year. He was joined on the all-conference first team by junior forward Adam O'Grady (Somers, Conn.). Adam O'Grady led the league in scoring with seven goals and two assists during conference play and totaled 15 goals during the campaign, helping the Blazers win their first-ever NECC championship and earn the program's first-ever birth in the NCAA Division III Championship.

Freshman defender Connor O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) was named Second Team All-NECC after scoring a goal and helping Elms' stout defense give up the second fewest goals (5) during the team's conference slate.

Fellow defenders sophomore Anthony Nitri (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and freshman Joe Pellegrini (Somers, Conn.) were named Honorable Mention All-NECC. In addition to stellar play in the defensive third of the field, Pellegrini added a goal and an assist, while Nitri notched two assists during NECC action this season.
